A company makes a cash donation to a sports person participating in a national sports event or an international sports event
Sport Tourism Scheme 2026
Must be compliant with VO Commissioner and AIMS; events must involve foreign participants; Scheme 1: for bidding support; Scheme 2: for bed-night generation; overestimating by 20%+ may disqualify future participation.
Sports Leave Scheme – Private Sector
Must have exhausted vacation leave; attending international competitions organised by recognised sports bodies; endorsed by SportMalta-registered NSO; not eligible if benefiting from 10+ hrs/week Flexi-Training Scheme; non-competitive events and local competitions excluded.
Sports Leave Scheme – Public Sector
Public sector employees participating in international sports events as athletes, coaches, referees, or officials; must be endorsed by a registered Sport Organization; event must be recognized by SportMalta
International Participation Scheme 2026
Organisation must be enrolled with and compliant to the Commissioner for Voluntary Organisations and AIMS; organise or participate in national championships; have no public funding for the event; no pending dues to SportMalta.
Gozo Travelling Assistance Scheme – Athletes
Permanent Gozo residents practicing with a SportMalta-registered sports organisation; must travel regularly to Malta for training or competitions; requires endorsement from Sports Organisation and NSO; original documents and certified ID required.
Gozo Travelling Assistance Scheme – Teams
Teams from SportMalta-registered Sports Organisations based in Gozo; must participate in Competitive Events in Malta; original ferry and transport tickets required; application must be endorsed by a National Sports Organisation.
Flexi-Training Scheme 2025/26 – Private Sector
Current national-level athlete in an individual sport; must be endorsed by NSO and employer; assessed by MOC based on performance, competition level, and training schedule.
Flexi-Training Scheme 2025/26 – Public Sector
Public service or public sector employees who are national-level athletes; must have endorsement from employer and NSO; evaluated by MOC Interview Board; based on performance, international ranking, and potential.
